Clogs are in!

Shoes are important to protect our feet and keep us comfortable. It is very essential to have a good pair of shoes to make our day productive, and stress-free.
As I conquer the culinary world, one of the basic needs is to have my own kitchen shoes. At first, I was just hoping to get a pair of rubber clogs in the local department store, but after a conversation I had with the school administrator; I found out that in choosing a right kitchen footwear we must consider the following:
                   a. stability
                   b. durability
                   c. skid proof
                   d. washable
                 e. the top must be hard enough to protect your feet from falling kitchen tools such as: pans, pots, knifes etc.

Good thing a store nearby sells the perfect fit.
Sanita Kitchen Clogs are available at Santis for P1950.00 it comes in green, white, red and black.

its official... am back to school

After Months of searching and inquiring for a the perfect culinary school, I have finally came up with the decision; and today I enrolled at the Center for Asian and Culinary Studies (CACS) located in San Juan a thirty minute drive from our house.

Upon our arrival, although I had a hard time looking for a perfect parking space; the encounter turned out great. The Guard  was helpful enough to guide us across the street where side street parking is possible. I parked my car and immediately went inside Cafe Ysabel and looked for Ms. Yanny, their very accomodating and patient facility assistant, whom I've been calling for days to inquire about the program.

My First encounter with Miss Yanny was a blast. As expected she is nice and understanding. After the routine work that I have to do such as: completing the application form and fitting for a uniform;  she gave me a tour around campus. She even help me find a shoe store where I can purchase kitchen shoes which are needed during the course and after talking to her I got more excited to start culinary school .

Today my journey begins.

Conquering the world of food.

I spent almost a half a decade figuring out what I really wanted to do with my life;; and when I had finally decided that it was Culinary , I never thought that looking for the right school to pursue this passion would be as hard as choosing whether to order a chocolate soufflé or a chocolate truffles which are equally delightful.
I surveyed among friends, relatives, and search through the internet and read discussions regarding this matter and I was able to narrow my options from five to three.

Now, am choosing between the Center for Asian and Culinary Studies (CACS), International School for Culinary Arts Hotel Management (ISCAHM) and Global Academy. Each has its Pros and Cons. I considered accessibility, quality of education, and internship opportunities. I called, email and send queries to address these concerns.

But  am leaning towards taking classes at CACS because its closer to our place and more accessible; in terms of parking space it is super easy to find one; and plus points to its receptionist because when I called to inquire about the course they offer, I was able to feel that the person I was talking to had mastery of the program, also she emphasize the fact that CACS is the only institution in the Philippines that provides its student the opportunity to have both internship (at its own restaurant Cafe Ysabel)  and externship (hotel and other local restaurants)during the duration of the course which made me feel that being in CACS would be the best place for me.  Another thing that encourages me to apply in CACS  is this video I found through in YouTube.

but my journey does not end here. I am still on the process of comparing these institutions and I hope that in time I would be able to come up with the decision on where to go. :)

GUILTY and PROUD

We can never avoid life changing situations that affect our mood, our disposition and our psyche. I have been battling with this since I resigned from work last February. After the so called resignation, I became restless, and I regret the decision I had made then. I realize that I am suffering a quarter-life crisis. I am clueless to what track to take and I can't even find something that would make me happy. I am drained - there are no energy left in me; I am starting to fall apart and started to felt useless. I am so disappointed in the way things turns out around me.

The Entire situation gave me an opportunity to regain my ties to old friends and enjoy my free time. This is what I needed to get back into shape – to have fun, and loosen up. It allowed me to get to know myself better.  It had thought me lessons that I could use in living my life.

During this soul searching moment, I enjoyed going out with my friends; and during the process I was able to realize my hidden talents – I am a closet vain, and secret shopper at heart. I don’t want to admit it at first but a good friend of mine enumerates the qualities I have that qualify me of the title and without reasonable doubt I am found GUILTY! :)

A school paper I wanted to share

déconnecté de la réalité figure

Dictionary defines family as a group of people living together and functioning as a single household, usually consisting of parents and their children. It is not as shallow as it sound, hence it affect every single life on the planet. It provides its members with protection, companionship, security, and socialization.
Greater than simple speculations family are not just social groups that deals with raising children and providing them their basic necessities. As a family becomes bigger the more complex it turns out to be. Since it is consist of humans no family is considered to be perfect; the imperfection of one member compliments the other, which makes it a whole. These imperfections that one member of the family can not accept or compliment turns out to be issues that family members needs to discuss among themselves. Issues among families vary from one to another, but its effect is seemly parallel to one another. Its weight and cost are as damaging as a meteor hitting the ground if not resolved.
Superiority is one of the greatest issues that men had to deal with. In a family the one with a greater superiority (maybe the father or the mother) tends to have an absolute control over other members. Example of it would be –the implementation of house rules among its members; (“no wearing of orange clothes” because father hates orange) – the rule only benefits one member of the family which shows that member’s superiority over the others not only promote inequality among them but it can also lead to crimes such as abuse of women or children, it can also hinders child’s development, rebellion among children and worst is death –maybe of abuse victims or commitment of suicide thinking that it would be the best solution to escape the problem. But although it is of mans’ nature to dominate over those who have less power, aware or not can cause pain to the subject. It can be avoided through humility, cooperation, team work and understanding.
Generation Gap is one of many family issues; here the parents could not understand the transition in their children and vise versa. Usually these happen when the children reach their adolescence stage where they get more curious, they wanted to maximize their liberty without even thinking about the possible cause of their actions, they try to experiences everything and often wanted to fit in a crowd. They also tend to enjoy their friends company than their parents, which leads to parent’s assumption – that their children might be involve it some illegal or improper behavior (usually the basis is the traditional approach on certain things during their time.) and usually because the mode of thinking that might not jive to one another these could end up to an argument and children tends to think that their parents are villains that hinders them from having fun; while parents think that these are just rebellious act of their children that must be stopped ASAP!. The solution is understanding and communication with these a family can build a bridge between them here the parents should learn to accept the difference of their life from their children’s lives and children should be open to their parents about the things they want to do or want to know.
Financial issue is not an issue created by a family but most likely it hits every family in the society like a lightning rod. Often times financial issues causes fight among husband and wife and disability for a family. Through this the family could no longer supply the basic necessity of its members as an individual. Parents could no longer send their children to a decent school and the worst possible scenario is that they do not have anything to fill their stomachs. The solution in this problem is hard to define one solution can be damaging to others only the government has the power to solve this crisis that affects man in every part of the world. The best possible solution which I think the family can do is to minimize their expenses and work very hard to supply their needs. The rest is just a question unanswered.
Technology mans answer to fulfill its discontentment. There are several different product of technology that might be sources of the different family issues that we have. Technology has made it easy for man to have what it needs. It is as simple as clicking a button; once you have access o the Internet it seems that you had access the world. Television, computers, games, Internet, wireless devices all of these are product of technology. And is also an issue in a family. Like anything around us technology has its own Pros and cons in the family. It can bring a family together however; it can also rip it apart. Like for example the use of cell phones and Internet. These provides family the accessible and fast way to communicate however cell phones and Internet can be like brick walls that can isolate one member of the family from another. The children will have less time to interact personally to their parents because at the back of their mind “the cell phone is always there when I need to call mommy”. On the other hand emails and instant messaging can endanger a life of individuals and also pollute young minds, it hinders one to interact personally and promotes kids to become couch potatoes as they grew older. The only solution for this is the proper education and that each parent should spend more time interacting to their children than allowing them to be techno-slaves.
Divorce, Annulment, and Legal separation  The effects of divorces are of extreme ends, and it is very seldom that the divorce came out good. Usually the attitude of the children toward life is affected they tend to be alone and to think that life is full of disappointment, some became rebellious and other engage in illegal drugs. However these problems could be avoided if the family would have worked things out before it was transformed into a worst scenario. It would have not end up to divorce only if the mother or the father listens to one another and the other issues were resolve.
Family issues are common among family, but having one does not mean that a family will collapse or be destroyed; on the bright side it can help the family strengthen the bonds of its members. The solutions that can avoid or resolve these issues even while having a family dinner the family should only have the right ingredients to have a delicious course which includes - open channels of communication, understanding, humility, optimism, faith, acceptance and above all the love that binds every family together.

Simple Things can be Life Changing.

Baller bands had been popular among basketball fanatics a few years back and as time passes by it has become a fashion statement of young individuals. Ballers comes in different sizes and colors. The colours of each baller band are sometimes used to promote a cause; to show one’s belief, and to express a stand. Just like the popular Nike yellow LIVESTRONG baller, the most popular of its kind aims which aims promotes cancer awareness while, some local university students wears the color of their Alma matter to show school pride.
Although, wearing a baller had been popular among people my age;  I didn't had the opportunity to find the perfect baller for me. Not that I didn’t want to support any of its cause. It was just that I couldn't find a baller where I felt connected until yesterday.
Like any other baller my “I am a life saver baller” supports a cause. It might not be as big as Cancer but this particular baller helps a young couple to raise a fund for their first born child, who was diagnose with BILIARY ATRESIA--a fatal, serious and rare liver disease that affects newborn infants.  The only thing that could help an individual with this condition would be a liver transplant which would cost three million pesos.
I am putting this baller in my list of good finds for 2011 because it will remind me that a regular everyday accessory could give one person another chance to live and enjoy the wonders of life.

Somethings are hidden somewhere in your closet you just have to pull them out.

Often times we are caught up in a situation where we tend to question everything around us. “Why am I stuck here?” we often ask or “How can I get out of here?” Like many others I find myself in the same post. I got tired of everything and cannot find enough strength to get by each day. Luckily, upon contemplating I find refuge in an old organizing envelope where my family usually keep recipes gathered in time. It contains a wide array of do-it-yourself meal and desserts. I read through it and realize that it would be the best way to divert my not so good vibes for each day.
Instead of looking at the four corners of my yellow painted room and pitying myself; I gather the ingredients of each dessert and made it my daily project. I began with the simple cookies, followed by half-baked cakes and now, my personal favorite cupcakes.Making these desserts allowed me to be happy and sharing them with friends in gatherings made the experience better.
Now,I am officially making this my HAPPINESS regime.
